Call for Fall 2024 - Spring 2025 call is now closed
Summer 2025 call opens in mid-November 2024
Our Faculty Mini-Sabbatical Program is designed to bring top academic talent from colleges and universities across the U.S. to the Laboratory for one- to three-month visits to exchange knowledge and build partnerships. This program provides an excellent opportunity for the exchange of knowledge and the development of new collaborations. Please note that it is not intended to provide direct support for specific research activities. Successful faculty applicants will be hired into the Laboratory’s existing Faculty Employee (FS) category through their host organization and can receive salary of $14,500/month (this includes 2k to help offset housing costs). Travel costs, which include 1 RT airfare or mileage in accordance with LLNL travel policy, are covered by the hosting organization. The faculty member is expected to be onsite during their sabbatical.
There are two application periods throughout the year; one for summer and one for fall through spring. The Summer call opens in mid-November and the Fall/Spring opens in late-April. Selected faculty for this call will begin sabbatical between October to April.
You must be a faculty member at a university to apply to the Faculty Mini-Sabbatical Program. Here’s how to apply:
1. Faculty must first be sponsored by a staff scientist. Staff scientists must fill out a host form sponsoring the faculty member. Completed forms should be sent to Mildred Lambrecht for evaluation by the Academic Engagement Office Sabbatical Program committee.
2. Faculty need to apply using the “Apply Now” link below. Please include a cover letter and your CV. The cover letter should emphasize your educational opportunity and benefit from this sabbatical.
