Dr. Theodore Baumann joined Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory as a postdoctoral fellow in 1997 with a Ph.D. in Inorganic Chemistry from Northwestern University and B.S. in Chemistry from Middlebury College. He has since held a series of technical and leadership positions at the Laboratory, including Group Leader within the Material Sciences Division (MSD) of the Physical and Life Sciences (PLS) Directorate. In his current role as a Senior Scientist in MSD, Ted leads projects focused on development of specialty materials, such as plastics and low-density foams, for high energy density science experiments. From 2020 to 2024, he also served as the Director of the PLS Postdoc Program, overseeing a program with over 200 postdocs.
