Annual Postdoc Poster Symposium

The LLNL Institutional Postdoc Program sponsors an annual Poster Symposium where postdocs present their most exciting research. The symposium is an excellent opportunity to see some of the Laboratory's most cutting edge science and technology and practice discussing your research.

Monthly Brown Bags and Panel Presentations

The Lawrence Livermore Postdoc Association (LLPA) and Institutional Postdoc Program Board (IPPB) host "brown bag" sessions where postdocs can bring their lunch while participating in seminars, workshops, and panel discussions on topics relevant to the postdoc experience. Issues and format can range from a panel of former Lab employees who have participated in startup companies to workshops on crafting grant proposals. These sessions aim to provide useful advice and information for the postdoc on a diverse array of opportunities in science and career building skills.

Annual Research Slam!

This annual contest awards the best three-minute research presentation given by an LLNL postdoc. Postdocs learn to clearly explain the motivation, results, and significance of their research to a non-specialty audience and a panel of judges. Postdocs are challenged to distill their work into a three-minute talk that answers the question “why is your research important?” The competition not only highlights the excellence and importance of their research, but also increases their communication skills and capacity to effectively present their work succinctly and with confidence.

Lawrence Livermore Postdoc Association (LLPA)

The LLPA is run by a council of volunteer postdocs who organize events and provide guidance to LLNL management about postdoc concerns. The mission of the LLPA is to promote a positive postdoc experience through engaging social and professional events, communication, and outreach. All LLNL postdocs are included in the association and leadership opportunities are always available. Contact Christine Zachow (zachow2@llnl.gov) to be part of the fun!
