Degree: Ph.D. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology
Research: Materials Science and Engineering
Joined LLNL: September 2024
Research at LLNL: Yannick designs materials, structures and processes to achieve resource-savings for metallurgical and industrial processes. This includes spatial chemistry control and process design for solid-state phase transformations and microstructure evolution using a variety of high resolution and in-situ characterization techniques to tackle challenges of various manufacturing routes.
Bio: Yannick Naunheim is a Lawrence Fellow in the Materials Science Division of the Physical and Life Sciences Directorate. He received his B.Sc. (2015) in Industrial Engineering and his M.Sc. (2018) in Materials Engineering from RWTH Aachen University, and his Ph.D. (2024) in Materials Science and Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. His Ph.D. research involved the design of novel alloys for rapid solid-state sintering.
Joined the PLS/MSD Directorate in 2024
